Home Ministry Raises Honorarium Upto Three Times For Special Police Officers Deployed In Jammu And Kashmir

The Union Government on Friday (2 August) hiked the monthly honorarium for the Special Police Officers (SPOs) deployed in Jammu and kashmir by upto three times, reports Indian Express.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced that the 10,821 SPOs who have completed over 15 years of service will receive an honorarium of Rs 18,000 per month, instead of Rs 6,000 as was the case earlier.
Similarly, the MHA also announced that the 5,132 SPOs who have completed over 10 years of service will receive an honorarium of Rs 15,000 per month and 4,436 SPOs who have completed five years of service will get Rs 12,000 honorarium, instead of Rs 6,000 under the previous construct.
Furthermore, 1,134 SPOs who have completed three years of service will get Rs 9,000 and 8,590 SPOs who have completed less than three years of service, will get Rs 6,000.
The SPOs posted in the state of Jammu and Kashmir assist the state police establishment in sundry functions, like that of intelligence gathering. They function under the directive of the MHA.
