After the trend of t-shirts and wedding cards with an imprint of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new trend of ‘Modi Sarees’ are being witnessed in his home state of Gujarat, the Times of India reports.
The new trend has come in Surat just before the elections and has been selling rapidly as women from the city are crowding the market to purchase sarees with Modi’s pictures imprinted on them.
One of the shopkeepers selling the sarees said the photos are digitally printed on them. He adds, “It is a different kind of saree which has been launched recently. It is very popular among women. Right now, we have at least four types of sarees with PM Modi's pictures on them.”
Ronak Shah, a shopkeeper, is expecting sarees with other politicial faces soon. Modi sarees is the latest trend, after wedding cards, gold and silver bars, Rakhis, t-shirts and mugs with the PM face imprinted on them were sold across the nation.
In Hyderabad, a 68-year old man sent wedding invitation cards of his son as a platform to campaign for PM Modi’s re-election in 2019. Subhash Rao Kishan Rao Yande told the guests to vote for Modi, instead of giving gifts to the couple.
