A twenty-six year-old woman who has been married to Mohammed Khan for four years has accused her husband of torture. The family is said to be living in Hyderabad’s Borabanda.
The woman - who is his second wife, alleges that she is being mistreated after refusing to give Khan a consent to marry for the third time. Khan reportedly has three children from his first marriage, the youngest one being just two weeks old.
The reason reportedly cited for his desire to marry for the third time is that the second wife is not being able to bear him children.
The New Indian Express quoted Ayesha (name changed), the first wife as saying, “He convinced me to allow him a second marriage by claiming that she would take care of our children.”
She adds that he has been torturing them for giving consent to marry for the third time. At times, he assaults his second wife by hitting her with a leather belt and has also been threatening to push her off the building.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
