Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), which recently started its Ameerpet to Rai Durg line, has launched free shuttle services for its commuters. The move comes as a great relief to employees working in and around the IT corridor. The services will ply between Durgam Cheruvu station and Gachibowli and Financial District, Hans India has reported.

The connecting shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes and operate between 9am to 12 in the noon and from 4pm to 9pm on weekdays. The free commuting facility will ease transportation for passengers of the metro rail where they have to hail shared autos or other services to reach their destinations.

Besides, 12 Information Technology (IT) companies have reportedly also come forward to operate similar services to their employees for commuting between their respective workplaces and metro stations.

According to the report, the HMRL is planning to launch more such services to increase the metro ridership.

HMRL currently operates 56 km of metro rail connectivity and carries around 2.33 lakh commuters daily. Phase I of the rail at present operates two of three proposed lines with an average frequency of trains at 6.5 minutes.
