In what can be termed as a historic first, Hyderabad Metro Rail has come up with an all woman station, reports The New Indian Express.

The Madhuranagar Station of Corridor-3 (Blue Line) is now an all-women station. As a befitting renaming, the station, henceforth, will be called Taruni Madhuranagar metro station.

The station will be completely handled by women employees, with shops to cater to the needs of women and children, in the station coming up soon. However, the station is open to all passengers irrespective of gender.

As part of it’s social cause, the HMRL has now dedicated the station and the surrounding two acre area to promote its programmes aimed at women empowerment. A women centric exhibition is reportedly coming up soon in the station premises which will go on for 60 days.

As part of various programmes, cultural competitions will be held for women and children.
