At a gathering in the BJP New Delhi headquarters, party president Amit Shah congratulated the “world’s most popular leader” Narendra Modi for the party’s historic win in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
He called it a victory of 125 crore Indians and the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah praised the hard work and effort of crores of BJP workers and called it the reason for party’s victory.
Shah also elucidated that for the first time in history a leader has won back to back elections with full majority and expressed pride over BJP’s vote share which exceeded 50 per cent in 17 states.
Shah though did not stop from taking political potshots at his opponents and mocked the Congress for failing to win even a single seat in 17 Indian states and union territory.
Shah especially thanked the voters of Uttar Pradesh for giving 60 seats to the BJP despite the SP-BSP gathbandhan in the state and called it a death kneel for castist and dynastic parties.
The BJP president also slammed EVM conspiracy theories and Chandrababu Naidu in the same breath before congratulating Naveen Patnaik, Jaganmohan Reddy and Pawan Chamling for their respective victories.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
