After the Karnataka assembly breached the third trust vote deadline of 6 PM set by Governor Vajubhai Vala, speaker K R Ramesh Kumar stressed that the proceedings need to be completed today (19 July).
After the Congress lobby led by Krishna Byre Gowda appealed to the speaker to postpone the proceedings till Monday (22 July), the speaker said that he won’t be able to show his face to the world if the matted does not conclude today.
As reported by News18, some MLAs in an attempt to force an adjournment, later told the speaker that they need to go home. The speaker as a result asked the Congress-JD(S) MLAs to tell him as to how much time do they need to conclude.
“I can't be guilty of dragging this. What is the maximum time you require? Let us be practical. You decide between you two and tell me”, the speaker was also quoted as saying.
The proceedings were then disrupted after the Congress leaders began creating a ruckus in the house as BJP’s J C Madhuswamy attempted to speak over the matter.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
