The Indian Air Force (IAF) will deploy more than 100 aircrafts and helicopters for efficient delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine, Republic reports.
The air arm of the armed forces have drawn out the intricacies of transport aircraft, the centres for the delivery of the vaccine along with the count of helicopters required to ensure sufficient last-mile supply of inoculation.
Sources have been quoted saying that C-136J Super Hercules, IL-76 and Cargo aircraft C-17 Globemaster will be stationed to carry the vaccines.
Moreover, the Cheetah, Chinook, ALH and Chetak helicopters are determined to be integral in this operation. The Dornier and Workhorse AN-32 helicopters will be deployed for service in smaller centres. On the other hand, the light and medium-lift helicopters will be safeguarded as a third link.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured that the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine will be available in a matter of weeks during an all-party meeting a couple of days ago. He had also asked political leaders to curtail any unsubstantiated apprehensions regarding the vaccine amongst the general public.
