If Covid Cases Rises Again, Govt Shall Impose Another Lockdown In Maharashtra: CM Uddhav Thackeray

Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray has warned that if the State witnesses a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, a lockdown shall be imposed, reports Asian News International (ANI).
CM Thackeray also emphasised that the first and second waves of COVID-19 had affected 20 lakh and 40 lakh people respectively.
Addressin the people of the state via social media, CM Thackeray asserted that the State has made preparations ahead of the possible third wave of COVID-19. He shared that the State now has 600 testing laboratories, and has also increased the number of isolation beds to more than 4.5 lakh. He further added that there is the availability of 34,507 intensive care units (ICUs) and 1,10,683 oxygen beds in the State.
CM Thackeray also added that the State presently has 13,500 ventilators and that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also started a genome sequencing laboratory.
CM Thackeray also shared that the State's present oxygen production is still 1,300 metric tonnes a day. He emphasised that even if the State was to implement a self-sufficiency policy, there are immediate limitations to oxygen production.
