Prof Himanshu Rai has been appointed Director of IIM Indore, reports The Times of India. As the new director of the institute, he said his mission would be to make IIM Indore into an institute with world-class business standards and to produce responsible global leaders.
“At IIM Indore, we will bring global best practices,” Rai was quoted saying in an exclusive interview to TOI. He highlighted the increased presence of male-engineering graduates in India’s top B-schools and stressed upon the need for diversity.
“Institutes should strive towards having a healthy mix of students,” he said. Realigning the curriculum with industry requirements is the biggest challenge B-schools in India face today,” Rai added.
New applications such as big data analysis, design thinking, start-ups and e-commerce can be taught only with a strongly framed business education.
IIM Indore also plans to boost engagement with local people in business within Indore and Madhya Pradesh. It would also mentor institutes with limited resources but are keen to do good work, Rai added.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
