Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday (13 October) reviewed ongoing construction and track-laying work at the Bilimora station on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor.

The visit formed part of a detailed inspection of the 508 km project, which aims to redefine passenger travel between the two cities.

According to an official statement, Vaishnaw examined the station façade, internal spaces, platform zones, and modern passenger amenities, including waiting lounges, nurseries, restrooms, and retail areas.

Designed as one of 12 stations on the route, Bilimora’s architectural theme draws inspiration from the mango orchards for which the city is well known.

“The internal spaces and platform areas are designed to have ample natural light and ventilation. The false ceiling is hung from anti-vibration hangers to isolate the fittings from vibrations of the trains at high speed,” the ministry’s note stated.

For commuter comfort, the station will include lifts and escalators for senior citizens, families, and persons with disabilities.

The design incorporates dedicated pick-up and drop-off points, separate parking for buses, cars, and two-wheelers, as well as EV charging bays.

Across the station precinct, landscaping and plantation drives are being undertaken to create a green, refreshing environment.

Blending sustainability with comfort, the structure integrates Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) standards—featuring efficient water usage, rainwater harvesting, low-flow sanitary fixtures, low VOC paints, and reduced heat gain interiors.

Of the total 508 km, around 325 km of viaduct and 400 km of pier work have already been completed.

The corridor also includes 17 river bridges, 5 PSC and 10 steel bridges, with over four lakh noise barriers installed.

Tunnel excavation across Palghar and Mumbai’s BKC–Shilphata stretch is also progressing steadily.
