In a bid to encourage the entrepreneurs to develop technology solutions for problems that are unique to Himalayan region, the technology business incubator of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi - ‘Catalyst’ - is inviting applications from startups, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs for Himalayan Innovation Challenge (HIC), reports Indian Express.
According to the report, the last date for applying for the event, which will be held on 25 and 26 May, is 10 May 2019. Interested candidates can apply for the event through the website of the institute.
A total prize money of Rs one lakh will be awarded to the top ideas and incubation support will be offered, which will include Rs 16 lakh worth of grant and investment from IIT Mandi Catalyst.
As per the report, HIC is an initiative of IIT Mandi Catalyst to encourage a series of innovative technology-based solutions designed specifically to solve social and economic problems in the Himalayan region.
The Catalyst program, in last two years, has supported more than 30 startups of which 16 have been from Himachal Pradesh, said Dr Puran Singh, faculty in-charge of Catalyst.
