India Gifts 44 SUVs To Mozambique To Boost Safety And Security Apparatus Of The Mozambican Police Forces

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a three-day visit to the African nation of Mozambique, on Tuesday (30 July) gifted 44 sports utility vehicles (SUVs) to the Mozambique's Ministry of Interior as a token of friendship, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The two nations also signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), which also included an agreement on sharing shipping information and data. Meanwhile, the another MoU was on co-operation in the field of hydrography.
“On behalf of Governmet of India, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Ji gifted 44 SUVs to the Minister of Interior, Mr. Jaime Basilio Monteiro. During the handing over ceremony, Minister of Interior expressed gratitude towards India’s grant assistance to SERNIC, Mozambique,” the Indian Embassy in Mozambique tweeted.

“The SUVs are expected to boost safety and security apparatus of the Mozambican police forces,” Defence Minister’s office said in a tweet.
New Delhi and Maputo (the capital city of Mozambique) share a close, warm and friendly relationship which is bolstered by robust development partnership and a large presence of Indian diaspora.
It should be noted that the 44 gifted SUVs will be used by Mozambique's National Criminal Investigation Agency. For the gesture, the Minister of Interior of Mozambique Jaime Basilio Monteiro expressed gratitude towards India's grant assistance.
