Indian Army Deploys Specialised High Altitude Forces With Guerrilla Warfare Expertise To Counter China

The Indian Army has deployed its specialised specialised high altitude warfare forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to counter any transgression by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in any sector, Hindustan Times has reported.

These mountain troops who have been specially trained to fight on the Northern frontier, are well trained in guerrilla warfare and high-altitude fighting.

The Indian Army has already been directed to safeguard the LAC from any transgressions by the PLA. These mountain troops would thus be ready to impose any military costs on China if it decides to resort to transgressions.

This development is significant considering the fact that India's territory along the LAC ranges from K2 peak in Karakoram, to Nanda Devi in Uttarakhand and Kanchenjung in Sikkim to Namche Barwa across Arunachal Pradesh border.

A former Indian Army Chief was quoted in the report as saying that the troops from Uttarakhand, Ladakh, Gorkha, Arunachal and Sikkim have adapted to the climate over centuries and their ability to fight close combat battles at these heights is unmatched.
