Speaking at the National Defence Academy (NDA) today, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh stressed the need for “jointness” in the three defence forces, reports The Economic Times.
Admiral Singh underscored that “jointness” between the three forces is far more critical in today’s changing nature of war than it was in the past. He said that it is paramount for a more synergised and effective application of force in today’s complex battlefield.
Admiral Singh emphasised, “The nature of war is changing and it is important to engage in all adversaries in all domains, like land, sea, air, space and cyber.”
Admiral Singh also noted that the three forces are presently undergoing landmark reforms with the establishment of the Department of Military Affairs, the institution of the Chief of Defence Staff and the soon to be formed theatre commands.
Admiral Singh was on a visit to NDA in Khadakwasla to review the Passing Out Parade of the 140th course of the prestigious academy. There, he underscored that NDA has been a symbol of jointness for 72 years and that its existence enforces the core values of jointmanship, which are the founding principles of the academy.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
