India’s Infosys has made it to the top five of Forbes’ World’s Best Regarded Companies’ list. The IT giant is placed third in the list after payment technology major Visa and Italian car maker Ferrari, ranked 1 and 2, respectively, reports NDTV Profit.
Two more Indian companies found their place in the top 50. While Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) stood at No. 22, Tata Motors was ranked 31st.
Forbes had tied up with German statistics company Statista to filter a list of 2000 largest public companies across the globe down to 250 best regarded companies. The companies were judged on the parameters of trustworthiness, social conduct, the strength of their products and services, and how they fare as employers.
According to Forbes, Statista surveyed over 15,000 respondents from at least 50 countries to accumulate the data.
Infosys made significant improvement to its last year’s standing when it was ranked 31st. However, it was still the top Indian company in the list.
“Infosys' leading position headlined an Asian invasion in the rankings,” Forbes said.
In this year’s list, other companies in top 10 are Netflix (4), PayPal (5), Microsoft (6), Walt Disney (7), Toyota Motor (8), Mastercard (9), and Costco Wholesale (10).
Other Indian companies that made it into the list include Tata Steel (105), Larsen & Toubro (115), Mahindra & Mahindra (117), HDFC (135), Bajaj Finserv (143), Piramal Enterprises (149), Steel Authority of India (153), HCL Technologies (155), Hindalco Industries (157), Wipro (168), HDFC Bank (204), Sun Pharma Industries (217), General Insurance Corporation Of India (224), ITC (231), and Asian Paints (248).
