The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) along with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) are training revenue officers belonging to different agencies in “intelligence tradecraft”, Times of India reports.
These officials originally hail from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Enforcement Directorate, and Income Tax amongst other governmental organisations.
Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB), which comes under the ambit of the finance ministry, is handling this initiative. IB’s National Intelligence Academy in Delhi and RAW’s training academy in Gurgaon provide courses only to the Group A officers of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
However, other modules are now being taught to administrators right from the superintendent level up to principal commissioners. To attain mastery over gathering of intelligence and appropriate handling of forensic and digital evidence, a course comprising of nine modules have been developed for the concerned officers.
The office-bearers will also be tutored in ‘Forensic Accounting and Techniques of Investigation using Digital Forensic’ by the National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur. National Institute of Securities Market (Navi Mumbai) and State Bank Institute of Consumer Banking (Hyderabad) are conducting courses on investigating economic crime in securities market and trade-based money laundering respectively.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
