A Pakistani Muslim girl was reportedly held captive by her family in Italian city of Arezzo to stop her from seeing a Hindu boy.

The said family had confiscated the girl's mobile phone. Also, the girl was only let out of the house on very few occasions under family escort.

The girl was freed after she managed to send an email to Carabinieri, the Italian paramilitary police. She sent the email using the computer which her family had allowed her to use for pursuing distance learning, reports Italian news ageny Ansa.

Upon being freed from captivity, the girl has since been taken to a children's home. This comes as the girl told the police authorities that her family had threatened to take her to Pakistan if she continued to see the boy. The girl also informed the police that her family members had even threatened to kill them both.

As per the girl, she had been seeing the said Hindu boy for about a year and everything was fine until her family found out about the boy's religion.

The police authorities have said that they are conducting investigations and might as well press charges against the family, especially against the girl's father and brothers.
