US intelligence agencies have alerted their Indian counterparts about a possible attack by Islamic State operatives during Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 which will be attended by US president Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump.
“The US has issued possible threat perceptions to the GES Summit and Ivanka. Though there is no specific alert, as advised by the US, we are working to prevent a possible lone wolf attack by IS-motivated individuals,” the Times of India quoted a top official of Telangana police as saying.
After receiving an alert, the Intelligence Bureau and Telangana Counter Intelligence Cell are closely watching the activities of around 200 suspects in and around Hyderabad. These suspects, according to the daily, have earlier had links to terror outfits or had shown symptoms of extremism.
While security for Ivanka Trump’s team would be provided by the US Secret Service, India’s SPG will take care of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
