A joint team of Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation on the basis of specific inputs about presence of terrorists in Vijhara Lewdara area of the district late last afternoon.
As the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them triggering retaliation leading to an encounter, reports AIR News.
One of them had been killed last evening while the remaining one holed up there was killed in the morning hours today.
With the killing of these two, the toll of slain terrorists has reached 14, who were killed in seven separate encounters in south, central and north Kashmir areas since 5th of August when Centre revoked J&K’s special status under Article 370 and bifurcated state into two union territories.
