In a joint press conference, the JD(S) and Congress today (1 June) announced that they will be contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections together.
The ministerial portfolios in the Karnataka government were also announced today after reports over tussle between the alliance partners over the government positions. Among the positions, Congress will get to handle two-thirds of the berths, while JD(S) will get the remaining one-third.
Earlier, G Parmeshwara of the Congress was announced as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
Here is the list of portfolios the two parties will handle.
However, no announcement has been made over who will handle which portfolio.
The coalition co-ordination committee will be headed by former Chief minister Siddaramaiah.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
