In a positive development, the security forces in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) yesterday (13 December) eliminated two Pakistani terrorists in the UT's Poonch district's Poshana area, reports Hindustan Times.
The police shared that the duo had infiltrated into Indian territory by sneaking through the Line of Control (LoC) recently. While eliminating the two the forces also nabbed their associate at Chatta Pani near Poshana.
As per the UT's Police, the terrorists were to head to Shopian district and carry out a major terrorist strike amid the ongoing DDC elections. The forces have received the intelligence about the same and carried out an immediate operation to neutralise them.
It should be noted that the security forces had reached the area on Friday (11 December) itself, however, they could not carry out the operation at the time owing to heavy snowfall and unfavourable weather conditions. As a result, the operation was finally carried out on Sunday.
This comes on the day when India observed the 19th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on the Parliament which was executed by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
