Wanted gangster Vikas Dubey's close aide Amar Dubey was shot dead in an encounter in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur on Tuesday (7 July), reports Hindustan Times.
Vikas Dubey is wanted in the dreaded killing of eight policemen in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on 3 July.
Vikas's aide Amar Dubey was one of the co-accused in the killings of policemen in Kanpur's Bikru where gangsters had laid a trap for the incoming policemen who were set to nab and arrest them.
The UP Police has deployed 40 teams and a special task force to hunt down Dubey who is presently on the run. The cops are also working to expose the moles in its own force, who tipped off Dubey hours prior, resulting in the devastating death of eight police personnel.
Meanwhile, UP's Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Prashant Kumar has made it clear that the force will not rest until Dubey is nabbed. To ensure unhindered investigation, UP Police on Tuesday also transferred all the 68 personnel of Kanpur's Chaubeypur police station.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
