Karnataka Legislative Council Polls To Seven Seats To Be Held On June 29

The election commission today (9 June) announced the dates of the polls to the seven legislative council seats in Karnataka that will fall vacant on June 30.

The election for the seats will take place on 29 June.

The commission which deferred the elections to the two graduates and two teachers MLC seats owing to the pandemic, announced dates for the 12 other seats today. Seven of these seats are to be elected while five will be nominated. The seven seats will fall vacant as the members complete their tenure on 30 June.

The last date for filing nominations is 18 June while last date for withdrawal will be 22 June and the counting of votes will take place on 29 June at 5 pm.

The seven members whose term ends on 30 June are independent D U Mallikarjuna, Nazeer Ahmed, M C Venugopal, N S Bose Raju, H M Revanna and Jayamma of the Congress and T A Saravana of the JDS.
