The newly sworn in BJP government in Karnataka led by B S Yediyurappa has managed to quell the brewing rebellion in its ranks after the intervention of party top brass, Times of India has reported.
As per the report, the BJP high command stepped in on Tuesday (27 August) after disgruntlement among senior state leaders like Tourism Minister C T Ravi, Revenue Minister R Ashoka, RDPR minister KS Eshwarappa and Health Minister B Sreeramulu who were unhappy with the allocation. They were also not pleased with the state government’s decision to appoint three deputy chief ministers.
After the intervention of the central BJP leadership, the senior leaders have now issued a statement that they are happy with the portfolio allocation and would work towards strengthening the government.
The reconciliation also reportedly included R Ashoka (who had not even taken charge of his ministry) attending a flood relief meeting with Yediyurappa.
The cabinet portfolio allocation in Karnataka was delayed by almost 22 days after Yediyurappa decided to lead to from the front in managing the flood relief efforts and ran the state in the meanwhile as a one man government.
