Accusing the state Congress government of adopting an anti-Dalit policy, the Karnataka Kannada Tamil Federation has pledged its support to the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for the upcoming state assembly elections, Kannada-daily Vijayvani has reported.
The federation’s founder and state president, Dr I M S Manivannan said that the Congress party has disregarded Dalit concerns by denying B Prasanna Kumar a party ticket for the elections. The federation hence will be putting its weight behind the BJP.
Manivannan also said that Dalits were repeatedly cheated by the Congress party which didn’t deliver on its promise of a Dalit Chief Minister in the state earlier and accused the party of having double-crossed Dr B R Ambedkar too.
The federation has hence sent out an appeal to Tamils in the state to vote for the BJP in the elections to be held on 12 May in the state. The federation also said that it believes that the BJP will be good for the welfare of Tamil linguistic minority in the state.
