Two additional Congress MLAs namely Nagendra and Srimanth B Patil are missing from the Karnataka State Assembly in addition to the 15 Congress-JD(S) rebels, with the discussion on trust vote now underway, News18 has reported.

Besides these 17 MLAs, one BJP MLA, 1 BSP MLA and two independents have also skipped the assembly session during the crucial trust vote.

It was earlier reported that Patil - who was earlier staying with other Congress MLAs at a Bengaluru resort landed in Mumbai last night (17 July), on pretext of undergoing treatment.

This development comes a day after the Supreme Court ruled that the 15 rebel Karnataka MLAs cannot be compelled to attend the house proceedings. This came as a breather for the rebels, considering the three line whip issued to rebel MLAs, was no longer operative in light of the Supreme Court judgement.
