Sajjad Lone, of the People’s Conference (PC), lashed out against the PDP-Congress-NC alliance and cited that this alliance has only been formed to stall the PC from forming a government in Jammu and Kashmir. “We continue to have the requisite numbers [for government formation]. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti did not have the support of a majority of former PDP legislators,” said Lone, as per a report by The Hindu.

Lone claimed that he had the backing of 18 MLAs from other parties and staked claim to form a government with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) support. He dared ex-Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to challenge the dissolution of the Assembly in court.

The PC chief said that he respected the Governor’s decision and added that to ally with the BJP was no crime as both PDP and NC have allied with the party before.

Lone also said that the protection of Article 35-A and Article 370 agenda of the PDP-Congress-NC alliance was a “lie” as Congress itself has crumbled the Article 95 times and has made amendments to it at least 95 times.

“The PC has emerged as an alternative to the traditional politics of exploitation and misrule practised by the twin-family political monopoly”, Lone said. He was joined by the former PDP legislator, Imran Ansari, who has recently joined the PC.
