The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today (24 October) arrested Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s son Syed Shahid Yusuf in a 2011 terror-funding case.
Yusuf, an employee of the Jammu and Kashmir Government, was found to have been receiving and collecting funds through international wire money transfer from Saudi Arabia-based Hizbul Mujahideen member Aijaz Ahmed Bhat who is wanted in India for funding terror activities in the Kashmir Valley.
Yusuf will now be produced before the NIA Special Court in New Delhi and will be further interrogated by the investigating agencies.
The NIA had already filed two charge-sheets against six other accused in this case in 2011. Of the six, two are in custody and others including Salahuddin are absconding and residing in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. ANI

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
