A joint operation was launched by police and army on the basis of a credible information about the presence of militants at Nandimarg late on Friday (10 April), police said. After the security forces reached the spot there were firing exchanges which led to a cordon and search operation of the house in which the militants were hiding.
Police said the militants managed to escape after the first exchange of fire, sniffer dogs were being used to track them down, the police said.
Earlier, a suspected terrorist with links to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was arrested by security forces from Ranbir Singh Pura (RS Pura) in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Security forces have reason to believe that the suspect was in constant touch with Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders based out of Pakistan. The man is a "hardcore" overground worker and some more arrests are expected at his disclosure, said one of the officials connected with the development.
