LS Elections 2019: Polling Underway For The Second Phase Of Polls In 95 Seats Across 11 States And One UT

The voting for the second phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is underway. As many as 95 constituencies in 11 states and one union territory are going into the polls in this phase of the parliamentary elections.
Though, 97 constituencies were scheduled to be covered in this phase but election to Vellore seat in Tamil Nadu was cancelled over allegations of excess use of money power and polling to Tripura (East) has been postponed to third phase, over law and order concerns, AIR has reported.
In the second phase, polling is being held in 38 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, 14 in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, eight in Uttar Pradesh, five each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, 3 each in Chattisgarh and West Bengal, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one each in Manipur and Puducherry.
Among the high-profile leaders, former prime minister and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) president HD Deve Gowda is contesting form Karnataka’s Tumkur seat against GS Basvaraj of Bharatiya Janata Party, ANI has reported.
Deve Gowda’s grandson Nikhil Gowda, son of Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, is making his electoral debut against independent candidate Sumalatha, wife of late former Congress leader MH Ambareesh, from Mandya.
In Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah is contesting from Srinagar seat while BJP leader Dr Jitendra Singh is seeking fighting from Udhampur constituency.
