LS Elections 2019: Sixth Phase Voting Underway For 59 Seats Across Seven States; Gambhir, Scindia In The Fray

The polling for the sixth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is underway. As many as 59 constituencies across seven states are going into the polls in this phase of the parliamentary elections on Sunday (12 May).

According to an official release by the Election Commission (EC), more than 10.17 crore voters will exercise their voting rights in this phase of the parliamentary elections. The Election Commission has set up over 1.13 lakh polling stations for smooth conduct of the polls.

Delhi and Haryana will be the states where voting for all the parliamentary constituencies will take place. All the seven seats of Delhi and ten seats in Haryana will go for polling in the sixth phase.

Besides, 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, eight seats each in three states - Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh - and four seats in Jharkhand will also go for polling in this phase.

Former cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party’s East Delhi LS candidate Gautam Gambhir and Congress’ candidate from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia will be among the big names whose fate will be decided by the voter in the sixth phase of the seven-phased elections.

The seventh and the last phase of the more than one month long elections will be held on 19 May. Counting for the polls will be done by the poll body on 23 May.
