Alstom, a French multinational company that operates worldwide in rail transport markets, has dispatched its last train set for Lucknow Metro. The trains were being manufactured at the company’s Sri City facility centre in Andhra Pradesh. The train is expected to reach Lucknow after a ten-day journey and would be received at the Transport Nagar Metro Depot, as reported by Metro Rail News.

With this dispatch, Alstom has delivered rolling stocks of 20 trains that are required by the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) to commission the 22.8 km long North-South (Phase 1A) Metro corridor in the city.

The train was flagged off in a grand ceremony, conducted at the Sri City plant. It witnessed the presence of Lucknow Metro Managing Director and the CEO of Alstom, Mr Henri Poupart Lafarge who came down to India.

Time-bound approvals for design and continuing reviews by the dedicated officials working on the metro rail, have ensured timely delivery of trains. The Lucknow Metro coaches will feature continuous monitoring of pantograph through a roof-mounted camera. This is being implemented for the first time in the world.

Lucknow Metro, the work on which began in September 2014, is being built and operated by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, as a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
