An electric vehicle (EVs) vendor park is set to be established in Talegaon near Pune city.
P Anbalagan, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), has said that 2,500 EV charging points will be installed in seven cities along with the Samruddhi Mahamarg and Pune-Mumbai Expressway.
“We have approved two out of five proposals for EV production in Maharashtra. We are giving ‘mega project’ status to projects having investments of Rs 100 crore in the EV space, which is 15 times less than the Rs 1,500 crore investment needed in other sectors,” Anbalagan was quoted in Hindustan Times (HT) reports.
He added, “To begin with, we are looking at the PE fund of Rs 500 crore for the ‘sunrise’ EV sector.”
MIDC is reportedly allotting land to EV manufacturers and the concerned stakeholders on a priority basis.
Maharashtra’s environment minister Aaditya Thackeray has already declared that Mumbai, along with other cities in the state, will have around 10,000 e-buses by 2027.
The state government is also likely to introduce schemes to replace the existing auto-rickshaws with e-autos.
