Swedish Company IKEA will be starting e-commerce operations in India from March 2019 onwards, Economic Times has reported. The company’s CEO, Peter Betzel, told the media about the company’s plans on the sidelines of the ground-breaking ceremony for the third IKEA store in Bengaluru.
"IKEA will create a multi-channel experience for its customers in India. It will launch e-commerce in Mumbai early next summer (March) and introduce other touch points to bring the brand closer to customers”, Betzel told the media. He added that his company already had an online portal, which was in the process of connecting different platforms. He added that the information technology infrastructure for fulfillment division was being put in place.
Betzel said that the company was looking at integrating online and retail sales. He added that the company would become profitable in the coming years. The Bengaluru store, which is now under construction, will be completed by 2020 and may attract 70 lakh customers per year.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
