Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath on Friday (25 October) said all Anganwadi centres under the Basic Education Council (BEC) will be converted into pre-primary schools.
CM Adityanath announced that all children aged three would be admitted to in pre-primary schools. This would come into effect in the state from the next academic session itself. CM Adityanath said that all 5-year-old children would be admitted to Class 1 in regular primary schools after two years of education in Anganwadi.
The children who will be receiving pre-primary education in the Anganwadis will also get nutritional benefits in the form of food.
The announcement was made by CM Adityanath while also launching a flagship scheme aligned with Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's push for women empowerment and 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'. The scheme is called Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted women empowerment through the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme. The Kanya Sumangla Yojna would further boost the PM's scheme," Adityanath said.
