Radical Islamist preacher Zakir Naik has angered various organisations in Malaysia for a speech which purportedly sought to instigate locals against the Hindu population.
As per a report in Malaysia Kini, Naik in a recent speech had alleged that Hindus in Malaysia are more loyal to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi than his Malaysian compatriot Mahathir Mohamad. He also reportedly claimed that Hindus in Malaysia enjoyed 100 per cent more rights than Muslims do in India.
This has led to a backlash from various organisations in the country who have attacked Naik for his speech.
M Satees an assembly member from Bagan Dalam has demanded that Naik be deported from Malaysia to a different neutral country.
“How long is the Malaysian government going to let this guy stay in our country and stir racial and religious tensions among Malaysians?”, questioned Satees.
Malaysia’s National Patriots Association has also come down heavily on Naik for his speech and asked him to stop instigating Malaysian citizens. It claimed that such statements by Naik are designed to curry favour with the Malaysian Prime Minister.
