West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool president Mamata Banerjee has refused to attend the all party meet called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 19 June claiming that she needs more time to come up with a proper response, The Hindu has reported.
In a reply to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Mamata claimed that the serious and sensitive subject required consultation with constitutional experts and members of her own party.
In her letter Mamata claimed that providing a response in such a short period of time would not do justice to the matter. She thus sought the circulation of a white paper on the subject for all political parties and then invite their views after providing adequate time so that they can provide concrete suggestions.
A few days ago, Mamata had also skipped a NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling it fruitless as NITI Aayog has no financial powers.
