West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Kolkata along with several of her associates after the central agency arrested senior TMC leaders Firad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra, and Sovan Chatterjee in connection with the Narada sting operation.
While Mamata stormed into the CBI office at Nizam Palace complex which houses central government offices, Trinamool workers and supporters laid siege on Nizam Palace where a huge contingent of central forces have been deployed.
As per reports, Mamata has challenged the CBI to arrest her along with the TMC leaders and also reportedly threatened not to leave the premises unless she too is arrested.
CBI will be filing the final chargesheet in the matter today and the four arrested will also be presented before court.
Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar had earlier granted sanction to the CBI’s request to prosecute Hakim and three others — Subrata Mukherjee (another senior cabinet minister) and two former ministers Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee.
