BJP’s Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya in an interview to Times of India has claimed that the Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government won’t be able to complete its full term as it would be hit by a mass exodus of Trinamool MLAs.
Vijayvargiya claimed that the government would fall way before the 2021 state assembly polls as a large number of its legislators are ready to rebel and quit the party. He added that the prospect of Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee succeeding her in the future is fuelling disquiet among the party ranks.
Some of the Trinamool legislators have already quit the party to join hands with the BJP as was witnessed soon after the Lok Sabha results. In total three Trinamool MLAs and over 50 of their councillors have joined the BJP till date. Prime Minister Modi had claimed prior to the elections that at least 50 Trinamool MLAs were in contact with him.
