Union Steel Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Haryana, Chaudhary Birender Singh on Sunday said that he has offered to resign from the cabinet and Rajya Sabha as his son has got Lok Sabha ticket and he wants to send a message against dynastic politics, reports Times of India.
Singh, who is a prominent Jat leader of Haryana, made the announcement during a press conference after BJP decided to field his son Brijendra Singh as its candidate from Hisar in Haryana.
The senior leader said he has informed the BJP president Amit Shah about his resignation offer and it was up to the party chief to take a final decision. He said that the decision was taken by him as he wants to send across a message of anti-dynastic politics as his son has got the Lok Sabha ticket.
Singh said it is the principle of BJP not to promote nepotism and fight against dynasty rule and his decision to resign is in line with the party's principles.
The Union Steel Minister had joined BJP in 2014 after his four-decade-old association with the Congress party. Currently, he is a Rajya Sabha member of BJP from Haryana.
Singh was shifted in 2016 to Steel Ministry from the Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation.
