Minority Affairs Ministry Spent Rs 2204.44 Crore On Scholarships In 2019-20 On 67 Lakh Beneficiaries

Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today (21 September) said that Rs 2204.44 crore has been spent by Minority Affairs Ministry on scholarship schemes during 2019-20 on 67,21,630 beneficiaries.
The scholarship amount was transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
"The nationwide lockdown did not affect the payment of scholarships as the aforesaid Scholarship Schemes of theMinority Affairs Ministry are implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or Online Portal”, said Naqvi.
The disbursement of scholarships under the three Scholarship Schemes viz Pre-Matric, Post- Matric, Merit-cum-Means and Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship Scheme for 2019-20, continues in 2020-21.
The nationwide lockdown did not affect the payment of scholarships as the aforesaid Scholarship Schemes of this Ministry are implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and the amount of scholarship is transferred under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode directly into the bank account of the beneficiary.
