Mukesh Ambani = Philanthropy, Says Chinese Report, Rates Him As ‘Number One Giver’ With Rs 437 Crore In Donations

India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani is now the country’s most generous philanthropist with a contribution worth Rs 437 crore in a year. Bagging the second position is Ajay Piramal of Piramal Group with Rs 200 crores in donations.
The list compiled by China’s Hurun Research Institute ranks Indian individuals who have donated Rs 10 crore or more from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018. With average donations of Rs 40 crore per person, Indian philanthropy amount in the list stands at Rs 1,560 crore for the said period.
Mukesh Ambani’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) primarily focuses on education, and it is channelised through Reliance Foundation which, furthermore, aims to promote inclusive growth in India. Besides education, rural, social development and healthcare were also among Ambani’s philanthropic interests reports Indian Express.
Education is the most preferred cause for the donations which is followed by healthcare at 12 per cent and rural development at 10 per cent of the total amount.
