Fifty three journalists reporting from the ground in Mumbai have tested positive for Coronavirus. They have now been isolated.
As reported by ANI, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had collected samples from 171 journalists including photographers, reporters and video journalists who have been reporting from the ground. These samples were collected during a special camp held on 16 and 17 April at Azad Maidan.
"Out of the 171 media persons, 53 tested positive for coronavirus," BMC spokesperson Vijay Khabale has been quoted as saying.
The Covid-19 positive journalists are said to be asymptomatic - that is they are currently not showing any symptoms associated with Covid-19. Efforts are now underway to trace the contacts of these journalists.
As of yesterday (19 April) Mumbai had recorded a total of 2,798 cases and 131 deaths.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
