The Mumbai police has filed a fresh FIR against Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, this time based on a complaint by Raza Educational Welfare Society’s secretary Irfan Abubakar Shaikh, Hindustan Times has reported.
The complaint alleges that Arnab tried to “create hatred against the Muslim community and targeted a mosque” while covering the migrant protest in Bandra during a program on Republic Bharat on 29 April.
The complainant Sheikh alleges that there was no link between the mosque and the protest despite which Arnab highlighted the same to “create communal disturbance”.
Following the complaint, the Pydhonie police station registered a case against Arnab under various sections of the IPC. A police officer quoted by the report has said that the cops have procured clips of the show and an investigation is underway.
The Mumbai police recently interrogated Arnab for over 12 hours in connection which a case filed by Congress leaders over his remarks against party president Sonia Gandhi. The cops had later also held a lengthy questioning of Republic TV’s CFO in connection with the matter.
