Munger: Election Commission Orders Immediate Removal Of SP Lipi Singh; Probe Ordered In The Incident

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday (29 October) ordered immediate removal of SP Lipi Singh and DM of Munger.

Additionally, an inquiry has been ordered into the incident by Asangba Chuba Ao, Divisional Commissioner, Magadh that has to be completed with the next seven days.

The report further states that new DM and SP will be posted in Munger today itself.

Earlier today, unidentified persons cause arson at SDO & SP office in Munger, setting several vehicles on fire & damaging office.

They were protesting against the police brutality on durga puja devotee in the Munger district of Bihar.

The incident happened in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Chowk of Munger at 11.30 p.m. on Monday during the immersion procession of 'Badi Ma Durga' in Munger district. As per the tradition in Munger, the idol of Badi Ma Durga was transported by 32 persons called "Kahar" in local parlance till the bank of the river.

One person, identified as Anurag Kumar Poddar, lost his life while multiple others were reportedly injured in the incident.
