The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has offered to help the civilian authorities combating the coronavirus outbreak in the country by extending the services of cadets, The Economic Times reports.
The NCC also issued guidelines for their involvement in tasks including distributing medicines and relief material, manning helplines, community assistance, and data management.
“The tasks envisaged for NCC cadets include, manning of helpline or call centres, distribution of relief materials, medicines, food and essential commodities, community assistance, data management and queue and traffic management,” the Defence Ministry said.
In a similar move, the veteran community has also been mobilised by the Ministry to aid the government authorities in the work of contact tracing, management of quarantine facilities as well as assisting the local police.
Veterans are being identified by Rajya Sainik Boards and Zila Sainik Boards and are being mobilised at maximum numbers to help the state and local district administrations in the tasks of public outreach to combat the outbreak.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
