Nearly 11 Lakh People Vaccinated Across India On Thursday; Over 1.7 Crore Total Covid Vaccine Doses Administered So Far

In a remarkable development for the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, India on Thursday (4 March) vaccinated close to 11 lakh individuals against COVID-19 till 7 pm with Covishield or Covaxin doses, reports Times of India.
While on Wednesday (3 March), India had vaccinated close to 10 lakh people, On Thursday, the number surged past 10.9 lakh as of the evening. Also, more than 1.7 crore people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India so far.
It should be noted that of the more than 10.9 lakh people who received the jabs yesterday, around 4.9 lakh were aged 60 and above. Other than them, 75,147 people were those with some co-morbidity and aged between 45 and 59 years.
In total, as many as 14.9 lakh senior citizens and 2.2 lakh people with specific co-morbidities have received the jabs across the nation since 1 March.
The rapid surge in the number of people vaccinated daily gains significance as the country has witnessed a trend of rising COVID-19 cases in the past few days. Yesterday, a total of 17,407 cases were reported nationwide. However, it should be noted that of these cases, as many as 9,855 were reported in Maharashtra alone.
