Urging the citizens of Delhi to not burst crackers while celebrating the festival of Diwali, Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday (13 September) that his government will be organising a mega laser show in the city on the day of the festival reports Financial Express.
The announcement of the laser show to encourage the people fo Delhi to celebrate Diwali collectively without bursting crackers comes along with the decision to re-implement the contentious odd-even traffic management rule in Delhi from 4-15 November.
The measure is aimed at tackling the berserk rise in pollution levels in the capital city every year during winter which also coincides with the massive stubble burning cycle in the neighbouring states of Haryana, Punjab and also Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Meanwhile, announcing the laser show, responding to a media person, Kejriwal lauded the newly implemented Motor Vehicles Act under which the fines and punishments against the traffic violations of various kinds have been made more stringent and been increased several-fold.
Hailing the new traffic law, Kejriwal said, “There has been an improvement in Delhi’s traffic ever since the new Motor Vehicle Act has been implemented. If there is any clause due to which people are facing more problem and we have the power to reduce the fine then we will certainly do it.”
