To promote digital payment systems and bring in transparency and financial inclusion, NITI Aayog has constituted a committee which will create a roadmap in this regard.
The committee will comprise chief ministers from different political parties and NITI Aayog members among others. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be the convener.
Here is the composition of the committee, as provided on the Press Information Bureau website:
Officials say the committee will be identifying global best practices for implementing an economy primarily based on digital payments and examining the possibility of adopting these global standards in the Indian context.
The high-level group will also be identifying and addressing bottlenecks and indicating solutions pertaining to the transition to a digital economy.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
